Frank Ragonese, Ph.D., also known as “Dr. Frank”, is the founder of Pelican Wealth Advisors, LLC, which is a Registered Investment Advisor firm. He has a Ph.D. in chemical engineering and was a college professor in his early career. He has more than 30 years of experience in business and finance, including 10 years as head of Risk Management for Mobil Oil Corporation.
After early retirement and a negative experience with a well-known brokerage firm, Dr. Frank obtained his Series 65 license and launched his own investment advisory firm in order to apply his risk management expertise for protecting client’s assets. He also founded Pelican Financial Group, Inc, a Florida insurance agency, in order to provide health, life, long term care and fixed annuity solutions for his clients.
Dr. Ragonese has a passion for helping others understand the financial industry, and utilizes his risk management and teaching skills by providing ongoing educational workshops, including 6 hrs of classroom instruction and a 100 page workbook, for all prospective clients. His portfolio management style stresses managing “risk first” and “return second” while customizing each client’s portfolio utilizing Riskalyze software and a very active ETF and stock trading approach.
In 2014, he founded an educational seminar company, Joyful Health & Wealth, LLC along with Mary Lynn Ziemer, a Master Certified Life Coach, and Teresa Sievers, MD, an alternative medical doctor, in order to implement a “holistic” approach to wealth management. This initiative has focused on helping clients achieve financial, physical and spiritual abundance in their lives. Dr. Ragonese has several degrees in chemical engineering including B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Northeastern University and a M.S. degree from the University of Michigan. He is the author of 15 patents and has presented over a 100 papers and presentations around the world on risk management. In addition, he has held prestigious positions on industry risk and safety management committees including the National Safety Council and the American Petroleum Institute’s Risk Management Committee. He is a contributor to several charitable organizations in his community including Our Mother’s Home, St Vincent DePaul, Veteran’s Honor Flight and the Knights of Columbus.
